KAREN WETHERELL DAVIS

Karen Wetherell Davis practices in the areas of intellectual property (copyright, trademark, trade secret, publicity rights, and related rights), media, licensing, and entertainment/arts law. She works with a wide range of clients including service and content providers, entertainment companies, production and media companies, Internet and software developers, and artists. Ms. Davis' practice includes transactional work (e.g., drafting and negotiating contracts, trademark prosecution and clearance, and intellectual property and media industry advice) and litigation (e.g., trademark and copyright disputes, enforcement of noncompetition and nondisclosure agreements, and infringement claims).

She is a graduate of Stanford University Law School and Syracuse University, summa cum laude. Ms. Davis is a frequent speaker on entertainment/arts and intellectual property legal issues in the Pacific Northwest. She has been an Adjunct Professor at Washington State University - Vancouver (Digital Copyright Law), Seattle University Law School (Copyright Law; Entertainment Law), and Seattle Central Community College (Media Law). She was active in the drafting and passage of Washington's Personality Rights Act, enacted in 1998.

Ms. Davis is on the Executive Committee of the Oregon State Bar Intellectual Property Section, and previously was the Chair of the Washington State Bar Association's Intellectual Property Law Section (1999-2000). She is on the Board of NW Lawyers and Artists, and the Advisory Board of Washington Lawyers for the Arts.

Ms. Davis and the firm are members of the International Trademark Association (INTA), and Ms. Davis is a member of INTA's North American Dilution and Well-known Marks Committee., and the Board of Advisors of the Copyright Society of the USA (NW Chapter). She also is a member of the Oregon Media Production Association, and Willamette Writers, and is licensed to practice in Washington and Oregon.
